Castle Tourist Spot
Located in the municipality of La Barben, Chateau de la Barben is a castle that has been classified as a historical monument ever since 21st December 1984. Chateau de la Barben was originally the abbey of Saint Victor in Marseille, although no one really knows the exact era when it was constructed. Historians believe, however, that Chateau de la Barben was constructed before 1000 and owned by the Ponteves family. What will surely grab your attention when you stroll into the castle are the gardens. Chateau de la Barben is known to have the best gardens in the province and the landscaping is considered to be one of the most beautiful. • very nice but the Castle disappointing because the guide had an accent (Dutch seems it), was talking too fast and too low so difficult to follow. The 2nd part in sub terrain was more informative and lively with lots of explanations. Our visit was in 2 parts, one at 11 a.m. and the other at 2 pm. We had lunch at the rather poor snack on offer. Visit discouraged with this heat.

  • We did the combined guided visit (€16 per person over 12 years). The visit with the Knight (visit of the bottom in the bowels) is very captivating, interactive and interesting! The furnished Castle (guided by the marquis) is also nice, but I personally more learned and preferred the first.

  • Not bad. You don't see many parts of the Castle (which is also bed and breakfast), but the tour is nice. Do the low part on life in the middle age and weapons of the period.

  • A great place to visit, amazing tour guide, very beautiful garden. All was great and super impressive!
  • It's a beautiful Medieval Castle, very well-preserved and beautifully maintained... I also discovered that owners had built there a few very beautiful guest rooms... And aside from the fact that unfortunately it is not accessible to wheelchairs (all facilities having been denied and rejected by the buildings of France), it's really a magnificent historic Monument a must see... That you're planning to spend time at the Zoo in the Bailey, or you have just in the region, make the detour, step back in time and take the time to visit this magnificent Castle of the Barben, you will not be disappointed!

  • We had the chance to spend the night in the room Elisa. Hospitality by the owners may seem a bit dry at first, but they are very nice actually. A guided tour of the Castle as well as a small lunch in the kitchen of the Castle are offered with the night. The room is very comfortable and the decoration remains in the theme. The presence of a TV shows a little but does not shock any more than that. The room is big, the 160 bed is comfortable and the bathroom is great: bathtub legs of a lion, two sinks, a shower and a toilet. Bathrobes, towels, and a hairdryer quality hygiene products are available. Only downside, it rained during the night and there is a leak in the ceiling. Water has not sunk us on it, but the noise woke us up. I recommend despite this point to spend the night, it's a very good experience!
