Col de la Bonette, Jausiers
(4.9/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Col de la Bonette is a high mountain pass in the French Alps, near the border with Italy. It is approximately 2,715 m (8,907 ft) high. It is situated within the Mercantour National Park on the border of the departments of Alpes-Maritimes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. The road is the seventh highest paved road in the Alps.

You will see a signpost at the foot of the climb which reads "Col de la Bonette- 2802 m above sea level, highest road in Europe". This claim is incorrect for various reasons. It is, however, the highest asphalted road in France and is the highest through road in Europe. • Recently I traveled the road from Jausiers climbs to the Col de Bonette at an altitude of 2715m. The path open only during the summer is extraordinary and very scenic. Along the way you will encounter different small mountain lakes, such as Clapeuse, climbing further you arrive at the barracks of Restefond and after a few kilometres you arrive at the pass, from which continued for about a kilometer you can reach the Summit of the Bonette 2860m odds, rising 10 5-minute walk. From the top of the show is amazing and the view extends on all the Dauphiné and the mountains of Cuneo. A summer tour not to be missed, but watch out for sudden weather and thunderstorms.

  • absolute Alpine with a motor vehicle. There are still interesting cross-connections that are freely accessible for all cyclists.

  • This facility it called stop 2000 and is located on the road to Jausiers through the neck of the windshield... a name and a location not to be missed because the kitchen is worth seeing... a landscape breathtaking and very hearty and very well presented food... and very original... the corner beer served in horns of cows! who are on sale at the store memory... and the leg of goat that I missed... There was nothing in the plates of Diners present... a sign local cuisine very well presented and and very original... I recommend to all mountaineers who loves good food
