Col de la Bonette, Jausiers
(4.9/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Col de la Bonette is a high mountain pass in the French Alps, near the border with Italy. It is approximately 2,715 m (8,907 ft) high. It is situated within the Mercantour National Park on the border of the departments of Alpes-Maritimes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. The road is the seventh highest paved road in the Alps.

You will see a signpost at the foot of the climb which reads "Col de la Bonette- 2802 m above sea level, highest road in Europe". This claim is incorrect for various reasons. It is, however, the highest asphalted road in France and is the highest through road in Europe. • I like going to this pass, for me it's a real treat, I do this walk with my spouse to bike very often, it's great, through you magnificent scenery, beautiful cascades sometimes meet in with the sheep. I have the road at all times even with snow when the collar just opens. And the night is great...! to make absolutely.

  • Recently I traveled the road from Jausiers climbs to the Col de Bonette at an altitude of 2715m. The path open only during the summer is extraordinary and very scenic. Along the way you will encounter different small mountain lakes, such as Clapeuse, climbing further you arrive at the barracks of Restefond and after a few kilometres you arrive at the pass, from which continued for about a kilometer you can reach the Summit of the Bonette 2860m odds, rising 10 5-minute walk. From the top of the show is amazing and the view extends on all the Dauphiné and the mountains of Cuneo. A summer tour not to be missed, but watch out for sudden weather and thunderstorms.

  • absolute Alpine with a motor vehicle. There are still interesting cross-connections that are freely accessible for all cyclists.
