Col de la Bonette, Jausiers

Col de la Bonette is a high mountain pass in the French Alps, near the border with Italy. It is approximately 2,715 m (8,907 ft) high. It is situated within the Mercantour National Park on the border of the departments of Alpes-Maritimes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. The road is the seventh highest paved road in the Alps.

You will see a signpost at the foot of the climb which reads "Col de la Bonette- 2802 m above sea level, highest road in Europe". This claim is incorrect for various reasons. It is, however, the highest asphalted road in France and is the highest through road in Europe. • One of the mandatory passes of our journey on the road of the great Alps. Go see at all costs because you arrive on the highest road in Europe (but not the pass because it is the neck of the Iseran 2764 m up the road of the great Alps.)

  • Great site. Charming well maintained road. Military remains. Breathtaking landscapes. Inquire about the date of opening or closing of the pass. Caution with cyclists.

  • dangerous beware
  • the most I've done running. The way to arrive from the North has breathtaking views and seem to never come. The climax is really exciting and a meeting place for motorcyclists and cyclists from all over Europe. A must for mountain lovers.
