Categories: Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Gain a unique perspective of the city and the surrounding landscape at La Tour de l'Horloge, commissioned in the 15th century by Austremoine Bohier and his brother Antoine who were both merchants and consuls in Issoire. At the time, it served several functions: as a watchtower, a communal house, and a bell that kept time for the citizens of Issoire. The clock and tower are open to the public including the Lookout with views of the Puy de Sancy mountains and the Allier valley. The ticket is not expensive at all and quickly pays for itself with the mapping of the stands at the top as well as the panoramic views it offers. After the thematic part as an exhibition is too out of step with the Tower in question, it's a shame. the paid ticket is not recommended for the person who have Vertigo. Unusual and fun to see. Issoire can be proud of its belfry.show original
