Chateau de Parentignat, Issoire

#3 of 10 in Things to do in Issoire
Chateau de Parentignat, called "Little Versailles of Auvergne" by Henri Pourrat, is a must-see for any curious visitor. As one of the few buildings spared during the revolution, the castle now houses one of the largest private collections of paintings by French masters from the 17th and 18th centuries. The château was built in 1707 and still contains much of the original furniture and a library with over 20,000 volumes. • History enthusiast, I was able to visit a number of Castle and french Palace. This one is a jewel family lived there there are a few dozens of year today still belongs to the family, I was captivated by the beauty of the furniture and lounges, the NoNet marble staircase (small village nearby, whose career at) mysteriously been forgotten so missing), this typical Castle from the time of louis XIV is a place not to be missed under any circumstances if you are in the corner, Issoire and his monastic will complement a day minimum in these charming and relaxing places.

  • A wonderful visit for the whole family. The small Versailles Auvergne deserves its name. The guided tour is excellent and deserves really the detour.
