  • Great views from the walk round the ramparts. Interesting tourist based gift shops with a wide variety of products and prices, friendly owners. Lots of cafes, we had delicious steaming hot chocolate. ...  more »
  • even authentic somewhere (paved streets, walls...) well located in the marais, near the bridge to the island of Oléron, with a few local artists shops

  • North of Marennes, a few kilometres from the ocean, opposite the island of Oleron, yesterdays-Brouage is a must-see site for lovers of heritage. The ramparts of his citadel at the iconic turrets, stand in the middle of the marshes, offering an incredible diversity of fauna and flora. Former commercial port of salt, in this magical place you can discover, among other things and with explanatory panels very well made, the magnificent building of the food, the powder magazine St. Luke Hall or even the Royal forge, underground port and magazines. The Citadel offers the surprising spectacle of a port in the middle of the land.
