Chateau de Ranrouet, Herbignac
(4/5 based on 65+ reviews on the web)
The imposing ruins of Chateau de Ranrouet still give you a sense of the stalwart fortress that it must have been, boasting six towers and thick battlements. The castle is nestled among the trees behind tiered walls that overlook to the town below. Although all that remains of it are the outer walls and a few towers, it still presents an opportunity to climb the old stones and imagine yourself a knight manning a stronghold against many French foe. • A friendly welcome by a young woman available, obviously this is a ruin but significant efforts have been made to rehabilitate this site. There are no rooms with furniture or other, but let your imagination run wild in the central courtyard, lying in the sun loungers available. A circular walk of 8 km is available along with other shorter. Seasonal activities are held on this site awhile nice during this second visit, the first in more than 20 years ago.

  • Interesting visit, the ruins are under renovations and the very well-kept ground the little leaflet and multiple panels allow us to well imagine the Castle at the time. Children can have fun to run assuming the life of yesteryear in answering the riddle which allows the degree!

  • Absence of a castle, we rather ruins of a castle... This isn't a matter, but objectively, there is not much to see. Nice for a stroll, Mattie doesn't justify a day on-site.

  • € 4 to visit a castle in ruins... and still in ruins and a low word: it remains half eroded walls. Wouldn't it not a bit of abu? I think that the height is €5 guided tour, lol, there's even more roof to your Castle
