Next to the formal gardens is a hill with an Italian garden with winding shaded paths. Notable trees in the park include a Magnolia grandiflora and a Cedar of Lebanon. The gardens are listed by the Committee of Parks and Gardens of the Ministry of Culture of France as one of the Notable Gardens of France. In popular cultureThe Château de Hautefort was used in the 1966 film 13 . The Château de Hautefort was featured in the 1998 film Ever After starring Drew Barrymore. The château was portrayed as the character Prince Henry's castle. • The castle is one of the greatest glories of the Périgord it dates from 1110 but repeatedly destroyed and restored it kept all its grandeur. Gardens has the French and the English are exceptional. This castle is worth a visit and spend a few hours is a real pleasure.

  • A very nice Castle, perfectly preserved with bonus gardens to the French and an English park beautiful. Visit the rain but does not detract from the beauty of the places that transport us in centuries back to note the little movie in entry of the visit that perfectly explains the history of the masters of these places

  • Beautiful chateau and amazing gardens. The rooms are decorated in Renaissance-type styling. They are doing work on the chateau as of July 2016.
  • The Chateaux is incredible. However at present major reconstruction is taking place and I truly feel it should rather be closed for the duration of the work. We paid EUR19.00 for 2 people and the construction materials and vehicles spoil every picture. Several parts of the Chateaux were also closed. Very disappointed
  • Incredible. The English gardens and the formal french gardens are truly beautiful. A magnificent treasure in the Dordogne.
  • Awesome place
  • It's not the Castle style that I love but when even a nice tour the gardens are nice to also do visit the village
