The art of nature is complemented with the art of humans at the Musée de Grenoble, founded by Louis-Joseph Jay in 1798. Although, Jay had to fight to have his plans approved for the 18,270 sq m ( 196,657 sq ft) building, it was eventually completed and touts an uninterrupted tour from 12th to 21st century art. There are artifacts on multiple floors, but don’t forget to visit the museum’s impressive collection of 19th- and 20th-century African artifacts located downstairs. • In a nice Park close to the docks, aesthetically nice, it hosts a very large collection of the works of all movements, all art, and from all periods. Temporary exhibitions are neat and often very interesting!

  • The Museum is very open, light, we find all the styles, religious s ante-Renaissance paintings to the more abstract modern works, illusionists and the pointillistes. You can walk there according to your desires, and admission is free to the age of 26. Again!

  • An awesome museum in the heart of Grenoble! Definitely worth checking out whether you are a local or just visiting. There are a lot of local pieces as well as some more well known. A lot of modern art too. 🎨

  • Free entry on the first Sunday of each month.
  • Spacious and thoughtfully arranged generous collection of painting and sculpture from many periods.
