  • Surprise! During the last week of July, the Fragonard Museum is closed every morning... even though the scorching temperature (36 degrees the afternoon) we dissuaded from out on the town after lunch. Having tried our luck two mornings now because had left us hope an opening on Tuesday morning, we were a small group to meet us outside the closed door of this beautiful mansion. In front of me, a tourist come to try his luck in family heard himself answer by the housekeeper, moreover very kind, that she was there "to organize the receptions given by the Mayor and not from any clerk visits... he had to go and complain to the MAHP" (Museum of art and history of Provence) whose staff seems to have his own volition of the opening or closing of this museum... As the housekeeper, the philosopher, it is worthy of a premium for having to "mop up" every day, bad mood and even the wrath of disappointed tourists of the few cases that we do, in the hometown of Fragonard, is maintaining the memory of the most illustrious artist of the 18th century with the last painter of his time at the top of the rococo style. A style which is expressed by a delicate chromatisms where roses, green and yellow triumphed in malicious and frivolous topics from a gallant mythology. Painter of female sensuality and the pleasure of living. Fortunately, the neighbor's cat, sensitive and considerate, will do you the honours of the garden in every corner. And you will, perhaps, the sense of having finally captured the soul of the painter in his romantic daydreams... We console good as can be.

  • It is interesting, and the visit is free of charge in several languages. Are 25 minutes approximately (short for my taste) and then you sell their products. In the bus station of Grasse there is 10% discount to apply to the rates.
