Eglise Sainte-Radegonde de Giverny, Giverny

3.9
Reputed as a site of mystery and ancient history, Eglise Sainte-Radegonde de Giverny is a church in the village of Giverny that dates from the Middle Ages. Built partially in Romanesque style, additions have since been made. It is dedicated to Ste.-Radegonde, who was said to have cured scabies. Some historians say Gallo-Roman graves were discovered in the churchyard in 1838. After you view the church, walk a short distance to the nearby ruined megalithic monument called St. Radegonde's Grave. It also testifies that Neolithic people used to live here. Where to stay in Giverny

Though you can easily explore Giverny from a comfortable hotel base in Paris, consider giving this small village its proper due by booking your rooms at a local inn. The village once served a rural retreat for Claude Monet, and today provides an ideal starting point for a leisurely exploration of Upper Normandy. Despite its small size, Giverny boasts several hotels and luxurious B&Bs, nestled in a quiet country setting just a short walk from Monet's famous gardens and the city's museum of Impressionist art.
