Château de Fontaine-Henry Reviews
Is dit een topattractie? Volgens ons niet. Is het fijn om het te bezoeken? Zeker wel. Alleen vreemd dat we een gids hadden die volgens ons meer Russisch leek dan Frans. And, we were there on a wet Sunday in september. When the weather will also here the experience altogether different
Ce très beau château, qui n’est pas sans faire penser à ceux de la Loire par ses apparences de style Renaissance, a été rebâti sur les fondations d’une forteresse des XIè et XIIè siècles, dont on peut... more »This beautiful castle, which is not without thinking about those of the Loire by its appearances of Renaissance style, was rebuilt on the foundations of a fortress eleventh and twelfth centuries, which can freely visit the vaulted rooms, former ground floor of the House Lord of the twelfth and thirteenth. Externally, you can admire the delicacy of the work of sculpture, marking the beginning of the reconstruction of the medieval castle from the 14th-15th centuries, in a flamboyant Gothic style, clean, then Renaissance in the 16th century. These different styles, which in addition to still the primitive castle towers, form the framework of architectural and artistic of the façade which opens at first glance of the visitor. The guided tour is dedicated to introduce the setting of parts, classic invoice, with the exception of a few original elements such the François I staircase. Inside, still inhabited by descendants of the family, is fully furnished and adorned with paintings by famous masters (Mignard, Rubens, Correggio, Titian, Rigaud). Next to the Castle, in the Park, the original Romanesque chapel has been revamped in the 16th century. It should be noted the few stalls in stone against the walls of the nave, and the original layout of the nave. In the Chapel, a video very well done this loop the history of Castle, and stalled, instructing them, people waiting for the next visit. See without hesitation.

The Interior is very interesting, especially for tables. Too bad we can not take pictures.
Honestly it's more cool from the outside than the inside. Tour was slow and boring, especially with 5 kids. They make too much out of the artwork and you only get to tour about 1/3 of the actual chateau. Fun little game area at the end for the kids, but nothing to write home about here for families.
I absolute love it, my children and I were very entertained. Twas a superb visit .
I Would not reccomend for non french speakers -guided tours in french only with rather thin printed guide in English - 10-15 minutes talk (in french) in each room with 3 lines in the guide. About half our party were not french speakers. the chateau loked quite interesting but this is not how to present it to non French visitors.
I visited the Castle great place. The castle is beautiful I had the chance to talk to the owner of the place a lovely man and open the place is full of history as moyennageuseuse has the second world war. The place seems difficult for people in a wheelchair.
Pretty Castle, but too brief explanations. It's a shame, expected for charming stories about an old family of 800 years! But the guide is basic on the history of France. Disappointed!
