  • From the outset, that is to say by far, imposes this fortress, perched on a rocky Escarpment which, in itself, a little surprised... The entire city, for centuries, is organized around high-medieval place, and here it is in the heart, dominating the entire region. By accessing, the steepness of the slopes to understand how he could resist much better than many other castles of this period! Almost amazing, considering ways to attack these remote times. As a result, access current, "steep" and on a somewhat chaotic floor, with wheelchairs or strollers is rather difficult... In addition to lovely small surrounding gardens, storied, the building is very well maintained and valued, but no houses unfortunately have very little furniture. One of the three towers is accessible, and offers a unique panorama over the city. The visit can be free or guided (almost an hour) but this second formula is very recommended, because comments are both historically accurate and shining of stories or of humor... The guide of the day was not elsewhere far beyond his knowledge to a memorized, unpacking gladly answering various questions. On the other hand, it was very accessible to the children present... but it is difficult for the guide to adapt to an also heterogeneous audience without frustration for one or the other. If the castle can be visited year-round or almost, and if summer access is non-stop from 10 to 18 hours about or with a break of 12 to 14 in the fall and spring, it must be well informed for the "cold" months, because there are a lot of variations depending on the day! (05 61 65 12 12) We learned that it develops there sporadically theme animations or re-enactments... certainly interesting, but we must focus on the agenda! Attention, no close parking, or at least not free! It must therefore fulfil the required (almost feudal!) right, or beyond Park (which was our case) to absolve themselves. We have moved the right toll (or boon) to pass under the towers to the right to park there! :) ! Similarly, is we moved here from a place of imprisonment of people instead of their free movement... we don't have history! Good visit!

  • Amazing place with fabulous views of Foix. Definitely a place to visit if you are in the town. The history of the Castle is also very fascinating and easily conveyed with a number of modern interactive multilingual displays.
  • Not a very large castle but very well restored, with very good exhibits on construction, weapons and arms. Especially appreciated the reproduction of the medieval hunting book!
  • Beautiful castle with hundreds of years of history. Worth the visit.
  • Its the Grandest Castle that I've ever been to Darling's. Everything was beyond my wildest expectations. Gorgeous Town Loved it.
  • Great fun for the kids, and lovely views.
