  • Really nice experience, for children the journey begins with holding the galipot (minor) and delivery of a quiz before descending into the mine "Screw your Mine". A very interesting journey with scenes of life in the conditions of minors, allows your child to fill his book with the active participation of the whole family. We visited the mining Center with our three children of 17 years, 14 years and 10 years and all three were appreciated. Pick up along the way clues to answer questions from the booklet, forces everyone to read the descriptions and Exchange. Little more, to exit the small gift of the galipot. Keeping the village and its camps, lets delve in a time, to realize in life-size. PS for the Paris Mint souvenir coin collectors, you on-site your happiness on sale at the reception.

  • First the address communicated by Tripadvisor is not quite accurate. The site is located in the commune of FAYMOREAU 85240 Fontenay County is about 20 km we are a group of friends we have been intrigued by the knowledge that there was coal in the Vendée, so we chose to devote one day to discover the mining site and complete the package which consists of a tour of the Museum a tour of the village and a visit of the mining area. The tour of the Museum starts with the hanging (locker) room then the lamp a guide you comments on the life of the minor, his work etc... Then it is the descent into the bowels of the Earth (simulation by the (Elevator) cage inside and has as you advance scenes from the work of the miner light up and are commented; we finished the tour of the mine in a round room. A minor talks about his daily life and every salient fact is illustrated by a photo that lights at the exit you can directly access the first floor. This floor we discover the history of the mining area through slide shows, films, documents and objects that Museum is not that coal is also the Museum of a village of miners and activities closely linked to coal as the glassware and the power plant. The day of our visit there was an exhibition called "the expression of art glass. This museum is the memory of a bygone era tour of the village is interesting if i a guide with you. We understand that this isn't one village like the others. It is a very hierarchical village where social status is clearly displayed. A village that lives almost entirely at least for minors on the visit to the chapel of the minor is absolutely to see. It is decorated with beautiful stained glass windows that have theme for the mine and the minor. For the guided tour of the mining area it is only for groups who have a because there's not much thing at the time, a few dilapidated buildings, a nature which has reasserted itself. It takes a little imagination the circuit ends by the headframe of savings that is not the original but reflecting the past of the place. In conclusion very interesting tour

  • We had a good time with your family. Visit to the mining village with a hearing aid that explains the operation of the mine life. The visit to the Museum is a bit disappointing, it is a reconstituted mine, but the Organization of the visit and the explanations are at the top. The kids loved...
