Basilique St-Sauveur, Dinan

(4.5/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
One of the rare examples of Romanesque architecture in Brittany, Basilique St-Sauveur is a Roman Catholic basilica whose construction was begun in the early 12th century. The imagination of men returning from the Crusades comes alive with beasts including gargoyles carved from marble on exterior columns. Keep an eye out for exotic animals discovered during the Crusades, such as lions and parrots adorning the arches as well as demons tormenting sinners. Be sure to look at the famous 14th century tombstone in the north transept of the famous knight also known as the "Constable of France," Bertrand Du Guesclin. • Very beautiful Basilica. Nothing that its stained glass windows are worth the look. Internally, Romanesque and Gothic styles blend flamboyant. This Basilica is also the setting of the heart of Guesclin. Tip: do not hesitate to get around to the English garden and put chains on the walk along the ramparts.
