Jardin de l'Arquebuse, Dijon
(4.4/5 based on 100+ reviews on the web)
The Jardin botanique de l'Arquebuse is a botanical garden and arboretum located at 1 Avenue Albert-Premier, Dijon, Côte-d'Or, Bourgogne, France. It is open daily without charge. The garden is located within a larger park and garden created on the former 16th-century training grounds for chevaliers of the arquebus. There, in the late 18th century, the chevaliers' last captain built an English garden on the site to designs by noted landscaper Jean-Marie Morel, which in 1803 became city property. In 1833 the plants from Dijon's first botanical garden, established 1771 by writer Bénigne Legouz de Gerland, were transferred to form today's botanical garden, which was named a Conservatoire Botanique Régional in 2002.Today the garden contains nearly 4,000 plant species with an emphasis on the flora of Bourgogne. Its collections include a systematic collection, regional flora of Bourgogne, French native plants, and 1,140 species from the rest of the world, with specimens of ornamental plants, food plants, succulents, carnivorous plants, subtropical plants, and Mediterranean plants. It also contains an arboretum, a herbarium containing about 100,000 specimens, greenhouses, and a school of botany, as well as an extensive collection of Anatidae .

  • This beautiful botanical garden is easy access, quiet, green, conducive to the market or linger and nevertheless very playful and informative in the middle of the thousand of proposed plants. Don't forget to visit the two museums and planetarium to spend a good half day.

  • A small Botanical Garden "cosy", we regret maybe lack of diversity and that the plants are more flowery with winter. A place still to see to at least see the Museum of natural history.

  • Very beautiful garden with an impressive number of different plants. It's like a Museum of plants in the open air, it's pretty impressive. To enjoy the show, do not hesitate to roam the aisles. 2 museums of by and others of this garden are worth visiting.

  • firstly, it looked as just a park in the city. but it is well managed and have some carvings that shows its history. peaceful.
  • Beau et calme
  • A large Botanical Garden not far from the station. The entrance is not particularly pleasant for pedestrians as the site is made for cars. Limit dangerous/oppressive. Too bad for a city at the mostly pedestrian centre that the situation is deteriorating so quickly out of the historic center.

  • Simple with some French and English garden. Two very beautiful and interesting museums. In the summer there is a paddling pool for the little ones

  • Botanical Garden coupled with a museum of natural history station. Nice walk with water, stream, playground, shaded areas, many plants to discover, common or exotic species. Very romantic couple but also suited to the family. To discover!
