St Jacques Church, Dieppe

(3.9/5 based on 130+ reviews on the web)
St Jacques Church contains an unusual 16th century freize depicting tribal life in the Amazon, commissioned by the Dieppoise explorer Jean Ango. The church also houses a set of stained glass windows commemorating the 1639 departure of three Augustine Sisters to Quebec, where they founded the Hôtel-Dieu du Quebec—the first hospital in North America—and the Canadian raid on Dieppe 303 years later. • A lovely peaceful church. Beautiful architecture- A choir was singing when we visited, which enhanced our experience.  more »
  • A beautiful church that mixes many Gothic, from the primitive to the flamboyant, but which unfortunately falls into disrepair apparently for lack of money to restore it. Nets prevent falling rocks of the nave and see the beautiful stained glass windows of the extension of the nave. The indoor as outdoor sculptures are very degraded but don't remove anything in the interest of this church. It includes the tomb of Jehan Ango in one of the absidiales Chapel.

  • A very beautiful and imposing church in the inner city, dating back to the XII century. Unfortunately very damaged by time, in full restoration.
