  • Through the Valley of the Tarn and the Grandes Causses regional park, we visited, away from major roads, isolated in the heart of the seven valleys the medieval village of Coupiac. Through its cobbled streets lined of noble houses, we discovered an imposing Castle of the 15th century. Flanked by three powerful round towers, this witness to the past is imposing by its surface and height dimensions with its machicolations, its loopholes, its latrines and its windows with mullions of the 2nd floor. Inside of beautiful vaulted rooms, exhibits about daily life in the middle ages as well as animations allow children and adults to discover a past too often ignored. At the foot of the ramparts, on the circular path, it is with curiosity that I pushed the door of the chapel of the Holy veil. What was not my surprise to discover in these places of beautiful murals. Indeed this oratory was decorated with frescoes by Nicolas Greschny, recognized icons in the neo-bysantin art painter. The designs represent important moments in the life of the Virgin. The name of this chapel from the fragment of a veil, stored inside, and local tradition has always considered as having belonged to the Holy Virgin. Coupiac is worth the trip and visit it it is to make a trip in time.

  • Let me explain why 3 stars: personally, I have put 2 stars: the castle is not very large, there is little explanation above and it seemed even wrong... Too renovated... Fortunately there was a quality calligraphy workshop and a friendly Lady at the entrance. From the point of view of my children, I would have put 4 stars: small wolves, donned costumes of Knights and Princesses. The big two had booklets to complete, should have read the signs to populate a grid, find a Word and thus win the degree of Knight (from the adult point of view, I find it unfortunate that questions on chivalry in general and not on a) knowledge of the castle itself...). For the youngest (4 and a half years), just take a Princess and roam the Castle has enough. Pillory outside liked them a lot. They had their trip in time. And the short visit their is enough. I thus put the note between the two. In summary: If you have little time, children at a young age, it's a visit to do. However if you wish to learn, and as an adult, a real dive in time, go rather elsewhere

  • Castle big enough. Nice visit. Possibility to dress up for big and small. We also saw the show after eating at the country market. A very nice evening.
