Nature Reserve of Scandola, Corsica

(4.7/5 based on 320+ reviews on the web)
Located on an imposing, porphyritic rock mass, Nature Reserve of Scandola is the marine portion of the Regional Natural Park of Corsica. The Elpa Nera Inlet and the Peninsula of Scandola make up two sections of the park with jagged sheer cliffs containing grottos flanked by numerous rock formations and almost inaccessible islets and coves formed by volcanic activity. The coastline is noted for its 900 m (2,950 ft) high red Rhyolite cliffs, more than 400 species of algae, architecturally interesting fortifications, and a handful of Roman sites. Traveling by boat is the best way for you to experience this incredibly diverse laboratory of flora, fauna, and geology recognized by the United Nations as a Natural World Heritage Site. • Essential. It takes a day to see this site by the sea. This site is protected = flora and fauna and it is forbidden to make the submarine hunting, to berth or to anchor. Esu is clear and we see the fish through.

  • Saddam, a cobalt blue sea reflects the rocks eroded by the waves. If that's not enough it must be said that the captains of the boats on which you visit are a phenomenon, in fact manage to drive the boats in crevices so narrow that seem impractical and the best part is that they don't just forward but also back to exit

  • Nothing to say more than my predecessors! But, for those of you who have already read in the past, it's hard for me to not add anything personally, my only goal is to inform and sincerely help our friends of the site "TripAd" therefore, I will add: make absolutely..., in accordance with a certain green guide, which gives it three stars (worth the trip...)! Truly essential site for its natural beauties. Absolutely prefer a boat of maximum 20 passengers, in order to enter the natural cavities of the creeks! The big boats, are actually much better market, but must stay away, unable to maneuver in those small spaces (caves, narrow passages among the rocks, etc...) These specific visits are really a 'more' in this tour... Believe us! For the start of your tour, you will be spoilt for choice, these being organised at the start of almost all marinas located between Saint-Florent and Ajaccio. Personally, I had planned a departure from Calvi (closer), but the weather does not allow it, we had to settle on a departure from our second place to stay, namely Ajaccio (count + / one hour to reach the site--if the sea is calm, this is nice...). With "Corsica Marittima" (Impeccable! See comments...) count area €90 / pers/day at the start of Ajaccio with a break at the small fishing village of 'Girolata' and its nice beach... It is worth noting that this village is accessible only by sea or walked (+/-8 km - from the collar of the cross on the D81 road or by borrowing more South, the trail of GR Tra Mare e Monti). To be complete, to Girolata, we had good lunch at restaurant 'Le Bel Ombra' in height and offering a very beautiful view of the Bay with turquoise water... (Postcard!). Beautiful memory... M & M from Belgium.
