For lovers of middle age, there may be risks of disappointment, the due Violet being passed by here. That said the visit is worth being made nothing for the good state of conservation of the building. My only regret, during the visit, the birth, the origins of the Castle are briefly discussed, and then of the 11 th century directly at the 17th then Chateaubriand ancestors up to our days... seat 5-6 centuries are folded in a blink of an eye injury, has certainly happened something interested around the castle during this time..? But the Castle and its Park are worth a visit... The curious can learn... Before the visit!

Apart from a building of great beauty and a very pleasant walk in the Park, the home was very cold, and as for the obligatory guided tour, it was boring. Big disappointment.

We visited Chateau de Combourg, as you can't have a trip to France without a visit to a chateau. The entrance to the property is slightly hidden from the rest of the town, but can easily be found by following the street signs. When we visited, we were given a time for the tour of the Chateau (it is not possible to wander around the Chateau without a tour). To get to the start of the tour there were steps that had to be climbed, so the building is not accessible by wheelchair or buggy. The tour was in french, but we were given a small booklet to read so that we would not miss out on any of the facts mentioned in the tour. There is some very interesting history in the property. We didn't explore the gardens much, as it is described as an English park. We can do that at home! The Chateau de Combourg is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Beautifully restored medieval castle. Well maintained grounds. The guided English tour was very interesting. Town of Combourg and the castle's lake are lovely to visit, too!

Visited here in 2005. Impressive castle with great views over countryside.

Tour good but not available in any language but French. Handed a guide in English to read while guide talks french.

Picturesque chateau and town. There is a guided tour but I didn't take it, as I wanted to get some photos before the rain appeared. The chateau looked impressive from a distance, as I approached in the car. Even more impressive when you walk around the local area.
