Criss-crossed by the canals of the River Lauch, Little Venice formerly served as the butcher's, tanner's, and fisherman's quarter. Originally a rural wine-producing community, commercial gardeners and fishermen inhabited the canal area, which is now the city center of the small town. You can charter a romantic boat to float around the canals and gain a picturesque perspective of the half-timbered houses. I visited Colmar in an early morning and the town was sleeping under the fog. The village was too peaceful and silent to be waken up. I was impressed by the architecture of houses here as if I was lost in the fairy tales or wonderland where everything was poetic and magical. People here are friendly. They have a market where I had a cup of coffee with a biscuit, also a flea market with many vegetables, and products from merchants.

What a wonderful day#35 #อิโตอินเลิฟ #ItoInLove :=) little Venice of Colmar in France! Here is a La Petite Venise, or the other name is the “Little Venice” of France. The colourful houses and lush vegetation that line the river gives Colmar the resemblance to Venice. You can also hop on a gondola and cruise through the river, as though you’re on Venice’s signature waterway. He he But i did not do that.. I just grab a beer and walking and enjoying the peaceful view.

Definitely make sure you stop here! Beautiful little town and lots of interesting spots. Word of advise though, reserve a table to eat in advance. We went to 99% of the restaurants in the evening for something to eat and they were all fully booked. Finally found a open table on the outskirts of the old city.

Absolutely beautiful even thou we went in winter. I am confident spring and summer would be even better. Nice to just walk around and surrounded by small cafés, restaurants and cute buildings. The covered marked is also nearby, interesting to see and buy some local products.

Colmar is a French city: physically and culturally on the border of Germany and Switzerland. The city itself is charming with small traditional houses in a palette of pretty rainbow shades, floral arrangements, flower beds, and the canal that runs through the historic centre of the city. Walk the cobbled streets and pass in front of the city's picturesque half-timbered houses until you find the canal and the Little Venice district. It is said that this canal gave this part of the city the nickname of "little Venice".
