This charming castle, Chateau de Breteuil, is located in the Chevreuse valley and is a wonderful site to spend day exploring its historical treasures and blooming gardens. Built in the 17th century, the chateau has belonged to the Marquis de Breteuil since 1712. As you wander the halls and rooms, you can view classic pieces of furniture along with 50 waxworks from the Musée Grévin. Meanwhile, the 18th century decoration includes Gobelins tapestries, royal Swedish tableware, and paintings of French kings. The masterpiece of the chateau is the "table de Teschen", encrusted with 128 precious stones.

Outside Chateau de Breteuil, you will find a collection of French and English gardens and mazes, one of which created from 1,000 box plants. If you’re looking for a bit more history, check out the rooms exhibiting the Perrault tales, which reflect everyday life of the past. • You dreamed, you believe in fairies, you keep a soul of a child... that Castle is right for you. The Interior has no historical interest but cats automata collection is a delight for lovers. In the sub floor you can visit the kitchens and oh! surprised you enter the room of the sleeping beauty. The tale is told succinctly. And the effects of light have passionate little girl. In the Cinderella stables, donkey skins, the Puss await young and old. Let you carry by the magic of fairy tales. Make abstraction a few signs that the time to leave on characters. a large area with games for children with benches allows to to reposer.profitez to go to visit the little Red Riding Hood. Good walk...

  • A great discovery this castle nestled in the Valley of Chevreuse. Hospitality and the organisation of the visits are strengths. The home because you are received by the owner in person, the Marquis. Very good idea to small groups in majority of children on one side and the other adults. Good guide, young but mastering of his subject, caring towards visitors to his group. Very well held, in line with the Castle. Very nice to discover, well furnished rooms, well decorated, with many objects and embodied. Many of the pieces feature costumed mannequins (personalities in the history of France or the Breteuil family-related). A little quick visit however. The visitor has not really time to discover everything on the parts. Another highlight of the castle which sets it apart from others: the multiple staged the tales of Perrault, especially in gardens (Cinderella, donkey skin, little thumb...). Kicked the cat: a thread. In all parts of the Castle, these kicks cats are present, much like the magical characters bringing dreams and fantasy for all sowing disorder between real and invented history. The productions of the tales of Perrault in the annexes to the Castle are particularly pleasant to watch: superb sets identified by a show of lights and sounds. 2 garden mazes PLCs are superb. Alas, we could not enjoy the statues in the park that were covered but the outdoor promenade offers great discoveries: exceptional trees, ponds, large alleys, small roads, good prospects, relief, the tranquillity of a stone bench to admire the basin and the façade of the Castle and even a garden maze will delight the young and old. Regarding the refreshment room of the Castle, a pity that it only offers little choice of drinks, including drinks, and as for pancakes, change the griddle: too small these pancakes and not terrible. Also attention to hygiene when pancakes are placed in the customer base: gloves would be rigorous. The magnets are quite good but a little overpriced. Finally, a disappointment in this ocean of satisfaction: a sandbox Orange near an annex was filled with trash. Overall, a nice, interesting, friendly and exotic. A return to childhood. We will try to return in the summer to see the outdoor flower and enjoy the statues. I recommend the visit without hesitation. And long live the Puss!

  • Several visits over the past years, and always the same pleasure. A family day between tale and story, a detour to do when one is close to Versailles!

  • After an overpriced visit to the garden, small wiki search suggests that the castle is still owned by the family of Breteuil. Nice way to run the castle by public/touristic money!
  • Way overpriced for just a walk on the garden while in a middle of a wedding prep. Avoid that Castle!
  • Very nice sample of the french cultural heritage. Beautifully tended gardens, excellent ideas of animation allowing children to be interested in the visit, and finally a warm and friendly welcome. Must do when you're in the area.

  • Beautiful property whose history is told to you by a sparkling guide which will delight you by his sense of humour and a thousand and one stories.

  • Very clean and beautiful castle, is well suited to children from 3 years old with animations. But the visit to the Park and Castle at 16 euro adult seems to be very expensive.
