Fort de Conde, Chivres-Val
(4.1/5 based on 20+ reviews on the web)
Fort de Conde is a fortification of the Séré de Rivières system built in France between 1877 and 1883 to defend the land between Soissons and Laon. Although the fort was obsolete at the start of World War I, its command of strategic ground made it a coveted area throughout the war as it changed hands several times. Following the war, it was abandoned and then purchased by a local community for you to visit. With our international travel planner, Chivres-Val attractions like Fort de Conde can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • a site superbly restored own beautifully maintained nickel panels are simple and well done but it lacks life in this place to understand the uses of the premises: models, weapons or replicas of guns would better understand the situation and the role of the various bodies of shooting an example to follow the models of the fort of the verdunl falouze e n site has not changed since my last visit in 2003

  • Beautiful large partly underground fort from a very distant past. Good tour and we even had an enthusiastic English speaking guide. Really worth it.
