Le Musee anime du Vin et de la Tonnellerie, Chinon
(3.6/5 based on 75 reviews on the web)
Entertaining, fun, and not for the faint of heart, Le Musee anime du Vin et de la Tonnellerie is a spirited restaurant that presents animated depictions of winemaking and cooking with an eclectic sense of humor. The eccentric and wise-cracking staff add to the offbeat ambience.

Under the vaulted ceiling in the 15th century cellar, you'll find surprising collections, including antique wine barrels, cooking utensils, and animated wax figures illustrating the secrets of winemaking. Bakers bake all of the signature cakes and fouées in a wood-burning oven, and chefs create tantalizing medieval culinary favorites for you to try, including goose rillettes and escargot butter. • Nice typical restaurant of chinon with beautiful exposed beams and wood fire. The owner is a 'character' to him alone, very friendly although somewhat "familiar" but very funny. We have got acquainted with other people and the atmosphere is lively with the owner says "dede the bakery". Very good evening. On the other hand there are card offer at the price of 20 euros (1/4) of wine. This is a bit expensive for the dishes namely: rillettes, home, House, fouées to will snail butter, white beans simmered and winemaker pie. All is OK, but it lacks a meat or fish. Go for the atmosphere.

  • We stopped in for dinner because it was recommended in the Rick Steves guide book. We were not disappointed. It's a small restaurant with a co-located museum. There is a fixed menu for dinner (19 euro...  more »
  • you want the typical and authentic, in the plate as in the room? the place to be, it is "dede the bakery"! a place or blends an improbable deco, a boss just as delusional and a generous and family kitchen... at dede, we eat well, drink well, merrier... in short, we have a "Rabelaisian" evening. go when there is a little world and let you carry by the ambiance... with a bit of luck, you can visit the Museum of cooperage and wine.

  • Atmosphere potluck, we are welcomed by the guests in an authentic restaurant! The fouées (traditional bread) in abundance served with good products in accompaniment. Soaring to dessert pie, we enjoy. And all this watered wine region!
