Chateau de Cheverny, Cheverny
(4.4/5 based on 2,000+ reviews on the web)
Renowned for magnificent interiors and the collection of furniture, tapestries, and objets d'art, Chateau de Cheverny has belonged to the same family for over six centuries. They own a pack of about seventy hunting dogs that live on the grounds, and you can watch them being fed on the live video feed. Guided tours offer added fun as you drive an electric car or boat to discover the grounds. A walk down to the guardroom leads you to a collection of arms and armor, while venturing further brings you to the Chambre du Roi that is richly hung with five Parisian tapestries designed by Simon Vouet to represent the story of Ulysses. Your visit to the castle includes a look at the fictional castle by author and illustrator, Hergé, the creator of the "Adventures of Tintin," who used Cheverny as his inspiration. By using our Cheverny vacation builder, you can arrange your visit to Chateau de Cheverny and other attractions in Cheverny.

  • A place to discover. The rooms are furnished. This gives a soul to this property. The host is very nice. This Christmas season, the Interior and exterior decoration is in line with that time. The exhibition of tintin in summer a nice surprise. Too bad for outside, the weather did not enjoy the Park. It's just a given part. Little attention: a small chocolate offered at the end of the visit to the Castle. .. a fine example of etiquette. The staff's quality, kind and friendly. It is a castle to do required in this area.

  • beautiful private, furnished Castle and beautiful park, there was an exhibition on the theme of tintin when we had been in 2015, since it is the castle that inspired Moulinsard!

  • Loved the Tintin exhibition, very clever and realistic settings. The chateau and its interiors are very well maintained. I enjoyed my visit to the chateau, but don't feel it's quite at the level of some other chateaus. However, it's definitely a must-visit for Tintin fans, and for people who enjoy magnificent interiors and furnitures.
  • This was the ONLY one of a planned 6 Chateau tour that we managed to visit as the others were inaccessable due to floods. Cheverney didnt disappoint from the shop at the entrance to the lovely Chateau, stately grounds and all those barking hounds It was really most impressive and interesting and thank goodness we managed at least visiting one of them in the Lore Valley as it was a long way from downunder. Do visit and enjoy, the family still live there so its not a museum
  • Nice gardens and good preservation. Picnic area available. Electric cars.
  • Lovely little homely chateau, nicely manicured garden plus a heap of hunting dogs on the grounds
  • Delightful. Plush château set in a regal landscape. The Tintin interactive exhibit is a must for any fan of this beloved European comic. Don't forget to visit the hounds in the kennel by the lush gardens (just don't excite them).
