Domain of Chaumont-sur-Loire, Chaumont-sur-Loire

(4/5 based on 900+ reviews on the web)
Your ticket to Domain of Chaumont-sur-Loire provides entrance to the castle wings, gardens, stables, castle park, as well as the arts and nature center. The surrounding park incorporates an English naturalist landscape by Henri Duchêne, while the castle illustrates both the defensive architecture of the Gothic period and the fanciful styles of the Renaissance.

Guided tours are available in English, and a program with a map of the grounds and interior offers spirited local information and historical tidbits. One fun fact is that Catherine de Médici entertained numerous astrologers at this site, including Nostradamus in 1560.

View works of contemporary artists, permanent exhibitions of great photographers' works, and the arts and nature project that builds on the relationship between nature and culture. The boutique du château and the garden shop offer regional cuisine and souvenirs with a local flair. • Visited castles in the Loire Valley s us this is what they liked best! Both abroad and inside is really well maintained and decorated (with a Christmas theme given the period ...) of all is the one where more breathes the atmosphere of fairy tale of court life .... We loved it so much the drawbridge!

  • If Catherine de Medici had not committed major works on the field of Chaumont on Loire, she, however, made an historic Exchange with her rival Diane de Poitiers and Henri II had "offered" Chenonceau... So, essentially, it is to Diane of Poitiers to the current appearance of the Castle, without ignoring the wise work of large families who succeeded him at the head of this estate and made the flagship of the castles of the Loire. Very nice visit. Especially do not miss the stables which are probably the most beautiful stables in France and maybe more.

  • The Castle and the vegetation that surrounds are beautiful. In addition, the welcome at the reception or in the different rooms to visit, is professional and very friendly.
