  • In the middle of a beautiful park, at a bend, you will discover the beautiful country house held Chateaubriand. In it have peace, he began his memoirs. Many furnished rooms and many paintings and drawings on the walls, which will let you relive or discover Chateaubriand. Guided tours of the House and the garden (cheap €6). Very interesting and nice visit. Two steps, you can also walk in the arboretum of Houston

  • 10 years is the duration during which Chateaubriand lived in this House, when he acquired a simple farm surrounded by agricultural land that he bought with the success of the memoirs of off grave and overhauled to make a nice little cottage that opens on a vast grassland dotted with trees. If there is one thing to remember from this visit, it is the great respect and Chateaubriand passion for trees. Of the trees he planted himself in his property that we discover today over the aisles: surprising, huge, majestic, rare trees trees also reflecting traveller of the writer's life. When he had to sell the House, private pension by the King and ruined, the more heartbreaking for him was to separate from his trees. Besides the House that one discovers at the end of an alley laid out (you can also borrow a forest aisle for access), the Park reveals the Velleda tower where Chateaubriand used to isolate themselves to write and the cooler, a construction in which was kept the ice. It is possible to have lunch or a drink at the Orangerie, whose inside is beautifully decorated. The visit of the House itself is of course interesting as it tells us more about the personality of the writer: a ladies man (his marriage with a Breton Aristocrat who if prove nobility was arranged) and a great traveller. Thirty teachers including the most famous is Madame Récamier. A strong attachment to its malouines origins: Chateaubriand had bought a staircase from a ship stranded on the coast of Brittany, which he had installed in his house. The route up to the House and the Park's alleys are punctuated posters taking quotes from Chateaubriand, a way to reclaim the works of the writer and soak up his personality. An excellent initiative. The trees are of course reported. Original tour as it allows the rediscovery of Chateaubriand an angle more intimate making the link between nature and culture, the two axes of Chateaubriand's life. However, she inspires us to conclude that Chateaubriand was a man of nature who have had little importance. I recommend without moderation!

  • At Châtenay Malabry (line RER B, terminus Robinson / seals), the Park and the Valley to the wolves home is offered to you: today property of the general Council 92, the site is a must for: the House itself ideally stored with furniture and paintings of epochs (1810s when the writer was resident), Tower Velleda redone, located in the Park on a massive the overlooking , the tearoom (open Spring and summer), thematic exhibitions on the romantic period, the park itself that counts American species (redwoods...) probably planted by Chateaubriand himself, after his stays abroad... Alongside the Park of the Valley to the wolves, is the Arboretum, with last acquisition by the general Council 92, the collection of bonsai trees of Repy Samson, bought after the death of the collector in a beautiful glass case

  • I hadn't expected much but the interior of the house was beautiful, both the original and the current state of preservation. It gave a lot of insight into the lives of wealthy and intelligent people in the first half of 19th century. Of course the area surrounding the house is an excellent park too, quiet and peaceful.
  • A nice place. We feel the nineteenth atmosphere "in its own juice". Met a young woman working in the Museum, passionate about his job. Other less friendly staff...

  • Very nice house with a pretty Park. It is possible to spend all afternoon. The exit of the Park of Chateaubriand, in front, has a municipal park that is also worth a visit.
