Le Refuge de l'Arche, Chateau-Gontier

(120+ reviews on the web)
Zoo / Aquarium
The tenuous relationship between humans and nature finds balance at Le Refuge de l'Arche, where injured or ill wild animals are treated before being released back into the wild. Some animals stay for the remainder of their lives and can been seen from viewing terraces. The reconstructed habitats are spacious and do their best to emulate natural environments, so animals are well-prepared to reenter their wild homes. You’ll see a large variety of animals, from lions to cows. The refuge accepts most creatures: exotic pets, retired circus animals, aged farm animals, or injured wild birds. The only exceptions are cats and dogs. • Family, between friends, lovers, the refuge offers a very pleasant for a stroll wooded course, the price is quite high, when compared to the big zoo and the animals that you can see it is more than reasonable, and if we add more the good action of this refuge, 10 euros is really nothing in the end. Many present animals are really surprising it was not expected to see so much for such a small price! The Park is enough large offering a true RESTful stroll in a significant calm large crowds to big zoos. A very good idea for a holiday or for a small weekend afternoon, it's cheap, and you travel, a breath of fresh air in the company of wonderful animals. It's been good. Some cages are too small and run down, some Park equipment is really degraded by time, despite that have can see that work is ongoing so we hope that the animals will be the next to take advantage. Even if money and logic for the Organization and maintenance of the enclosure. We can only greet and thank the refuge for their work. All these animals in need and it's really interesting to read sheets each of them to discover their misadventure and understand where they come from. Some panels are missing it would be although it is plasticized to be protected and more detailed too. In short, a great adventure, who sorely lack of money. Why not go and help them! (PS: goats have they really need a large enclosure and protected while the Panther at the entrance of the Park going in circles,... put the goats with the horses and give more space to the cats would be nice.) Like the ostrich could she not be put with other animals she depressed air and floor is marked by these tireless round-trip.)

  • This small zoo is very nice: shady, quiet, clean, it is full of animals despite the fact that it is only a refuge. It's always slope: it goes up or it goes down! Large play area and small cafeteria at the end of the visit. 10 euros only entry, a real plus.

  • This is not a Zoo, it's an animal shelter which collects animal éclopés of life and human stupidity. Visit family, a children's corner is particularly well developed

  • All kinds of animals are cared for in this shelter, exemplary. They are little darlings, and receive lots of love of trainers. Bravo!
