Lac Blanc, Chamonix

4.7
#5 of 17 in Parks in Chamonix
Lac Blanc is a glacial runoff lake with cold, pure waters that reflect the peaks in a mirrored pool. It's best known for its hiking, so wear your sturdiest shoes to get the most out of your visit. If you’re an adventurous hiker, you can start from the bottom of the mountain and make a stop at the charming "La Floria Cafe" for a drink. However, if you prefer an easier walk, take the cable car along with a picnic to the lake. Traverse the lake paths for the best vantage point to see the beauty of the “White Lake.” In the late afternoon, the lines for the cable car tend to be shorter. Beautiful ride with sublime view, accessible by the Flegere cable car. Starting with the opening of the cable car to enjoy the site without the influx of tourists.

we were a family of 5 - took us a good few hours (~5) to climb and about 2 hours to descend. We should have had better equipment (there was snow on the trail)  more »

We climbed from Argentière on foot by taking a little less than 4 hours. The climb is done well. On the other hand, it must be well equipped in shoes because from the Cheserys Lakes, the snow is present (we did 21/09/17). The landscape of the Lake's arrival is a great reward. Especially since it is very uncrowded at this time.

Brilliant views across the valley from here and lake itself is well worth seeing, especially by scrambling here through the Arrête

It's a long climb from Chamonix, and it was very foggy when we arrived up there

Build a car to leave the Argentière hiking. Walks took about three hours, took about 2 hours to down. Water 1 l left the visor, Lac Blanc cabins toilet water to drink! When you get a little cheaper restaurants and some more expensive restaurants. Even where good and the landscapes are breathtaking! The weather is blurred, but a bit more in the Mont Blanc is the nail looks good. France Alps outrageous!
