Lac de Gaube, Cauterets

(4.8/5 based on 480+ reviews on the web)
The turquoise-blue waters of Lac de Gaube are surrounded by intensely beautiful Pyrenean peaks over 2,000 m (6,560 ft) above sea level. Getting to the lake is an adventure in itself. First, park your car in the free parking lot, then ride the green cable car from Puntas to the Clot plateau. Next, ride the chairlift up to the lake. If you prefer to walk, hike for an hour on the trail that starts at the foot of the bridge. The trail is also enjoyable by horseback; horse rentals are available in town. The top end of the valley leading to the lake is closed off by the north face of Vignemale, the culmination of France's border with Spain. • A beautiful hike on snowshoes with a wonderful to discover with an attendant. Today it is Oliver who opens up the path and eyes on the flora and the izards. He knows the area well. And what a show when we come to Gaube Lake! A snack bar on the edge of the frozen lake, under a blue sky and a great sun. Then we rechaussons snowshoes for the return on a different path and we finish our journey at the edge of the waterfall of the bridge of Spain. We start with a lot of memories. Thanks to Olivier and the entire team of acumpanyat for this beautiful day. Picard family
