Lac de Gaube, Cauterets

(4.8/5 based on 460+ reviews on the web)
The turquoise-blue waters of Lac de Gaube are surrounded by intensely beautiful Pyrenean peaks over 2,000 m (6,560 ft) above sea level. Getting to the lake is an adventure in itself. First, park your car in the free parking lot, then ride the green cable car from Puntas to the Clot plateau. Next, ride the chairlift up to the lake. If you prefer to walk, hike for an hour on the trail that starts at the foot of the bridge. The trail is also enjoyable by horseback; horse rentals are available in town. The top end of the valley leading to the lake is closed off by the north face of Vignemale, the culmination of France's border with Spain. • I would recommend this excursion which lasts an hour. Take the path that starts before the chair lift, on the left. The rise isn't rough in the beginning then becomes a simple walk on the end. Don't you venture not winter as departure along the torrent is a real ice rink. Or, put spikes. At the Lake, what a view! The Vignemale offers its most beautiful face and you will make unforgettable pictures. So take a tour of the Lake and go to the refuge of the wheels if you have the mountain foot, and even if you give up before arriving at the refuge, the show will enchant you.

  • take the gondola and chairlift for 13 euros per person, included car parking. Restaurant d ' altitude was closed, too bad! Provide a backpack for little in the event and enjoy the sceneries nature offers us at this time.

  • You will be immersed in a beautiful setting. We did walk outward from the bridge of Spain via the ski slopes and the return by the steep trail. For experienced hikers and crampons required, it is impossible to do without both the ice is abundant in the last part (the water was frozen on the spot) which covers a layer of thick ice the trail in its entirety. 90 minutes of descent without dragging.
