  • Caunes Abbey has a very nice architecture, well maintained, either inside or outside. The entrance fee is very reasonable compared to the other sites of the Aude. In addition, you can admire exhibitions (for 2016, the Smurfs with CVS boards Peyo's original cartoon...).

  • in a former village, the Abbey worth the visit so that the old streets and squares (to note on one of them, in front of a church, trees planted in 1790 by the fountain of freedom)

  • One of the two historical things we found to do in Caunes Minervois. Ther architecture is very beautiful and worth the visit, both inside and outside in the gardens. Make sure to go underneath the abbey to see the original foundation, mostly just for the history of seeing stone laid down 1,200 years ago.
  • In the Abbaye de Caunes-Minervois of red marble, which briefly built behind the town, is used abundantly. Red, yellow, green and white marble were used in the right Seitenkappele.

  • A landmark of the Aude Cathar country: archaeological and architectural elements exciting, and wonderful temporary exhibitions (at this time, on the universe of the Smurfs and Peyo). And it does not hurt, a host always on top! The richness and the beauty of the village allow to spend several days there without getting bored a second: ND of the Cros, hikes, marble quarries, concerts, great restaurants...

  • A beautiful old monastery with an interesting cultural programme. Concerts that are worth a visit and not only because of the acoustics in the vault ;-)
