Scenic Drive
Follow well-carved walking paths over rugged terrain to get to the ruined, 17th century Genoese tower of Tour d'Omigna. Sitting on a rocky cliff overlooking the sea, the tower was built in 1605 as part of a series of defenses built by the Republic of Genoa to protect the island of Corsica against Barbary pirates. The tower was declared a national monument in 1991 and was restored in 2009 so that visitors could once again climb to the rooftop terrace and take in the panoramic views. It's an easy coastal hike to the tower, but the trek requires adequate walking shoes, and you'll want to take plenty of water. Take a look at our Cargese trip builder to schedule your visit to Tour d'Omigna and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • A route very well laid out and well marked, we can see animals, a beautiful vegetation along the coast. The walk is accessible to all.

  • If you like running at dawn in the month of August so do not hesitate: very nice course where you do come across only a few other riders slightly hilly Carfree. Nice views all the way, including from the top of the tower. Provide water. 8 km AR.

  • Great walk - easy with even small kids. Do chose an alternative route for the return. Route is stunningly beautiful.  more »
