Musée de l'École, Carcassonne

4.1
#1 of 8 in Museums in Carcassonne
Take a trip back the classroom at Musée de l'École. This small center explores 19th-century France's education system through information displays and historical artifacts in a preserved classroom setting. Examine informative posters and classroom equipment as you compare today's educational establishments with those of yore. Don't miss the opportunity to sit at an old-fashioned desk and practice your handwriting thanks to a quill and inkwell. Those unpracticed in the art of calligraphy may want to avoid wearing white. Only €3,5 entrance (€2,5 for students and job-seekers free also apply). I am now 28 years old, and I landed in childhood through this museum. Fun without a sense, the Museum is small enough, but there's fun in the playground as in the classroom! The different sizes of table and chairs allow the smaller as the largest to take place (I'm very strong in nature, and I me slid it easily). There is a fountain pen, purple ink and small leaves to tiles so that fun to write as at the time. Outside the games of hopscotch. This museum is simply recommended!

Good time to be in class with fasting (Pagnol) Marcel or the great Lebrac (war of buttons)... Do not miss, especially if one is with children!

Here, no grandstanding, no flashy, no special effects! .... We wisely walk class in classes and is remembered... The kids loved it write to the pen, (without to try fingers!), we saw the already ancient maps of our childhood... A reconstituted library, desks wooden, lessons of things with quartz and snakes formolés in the window, a "donkey" at the bottom of the class... Lots of little details to look for! Leaving this small museum, we had a good Point to applaud (!) and we played outside hopscotch in the Court...

Place in accordance with my memories of schoolboy. Writing to pen testing is revealing to see if it is good a pencil. The books in the library contain treasures that should inspire the Minister of education. Special note for the kindness of the staff. Thank you.

It is not a must but it is interesting and well mounted. It's nothing expensive. I would visit it if you spare time on the trip. Although uncommon pass clear...

Where to stay in Carcassonne

Although the picturesque La Cite is a tempting place to stay, consider the quieter and more affordable La Bastide Saint Louis down the hill. La Bastide provides easy access by foot to the walled La Cite for daily tours and peace and quiet after dark.
