  • Typical medieval city, but a spectacular size... Walls of great beauty and full contour inside multiple typical shops and all kinds. Recommended

  • We were in March and Carcassonne was empty. It was a pleasure to visit the medieval without crowds, but on the other hand, most of the restaurants were closed.

  • Despite the wind and rain, we feel like real medieval knights, not advisable to visit in Easter or summer, we were great, although the rain was terrible for a couple of hours, but not tarnished the magic of the place.

  • Great buildings. Lovely photos. Nice to walk around the city walls. Not all pushchair friendly but flat mostly. Lots of tourist shops inside and many bars and restaurants.
  • Beautiful mediaeval village, full of well preserved structures and many pleasant bars, restaurants and coffee houses. It's lively during the day and also during the night... There are many nooks and corners to explore!
  • I just loved it!! You get back to the past. Everything is very well kept. People are very welcoming, specially the ones on the tourist office.
  • The walled city of Carcassonne is a one-of-a-kind treasure. It also functions as essentially a year-round Renaissance Fair. If you're in the area, definitely go, spend at least a few hours and be amazed.
  • Fantastic city! Well worth the effort to visit. I suggest to stay at least one night to enjoy the view of the city by night. It is a well maintained town fortress which has become a little touristy but that is to be expected. Enjoy the walk around the grounds, definitely take in the ramparts. Stop and have a bottle of Languedoc-Roussillon wine in the late afternoon sun. It is a great place to explore. The town should try to encourage its local artisans more as the city of Collioure has done but no matter what it is a great place to see once in your lifetime! Enjoy
