  • If you stay in the area, it is worth visiting the old city. There are enough things to see, especially if the crowds are not too thick. The good thing is that it is open and accessible all the time...  more »
  • On our approach to Carcassonne, this attraction is extremely imposing, so we visited it. it appeared to be unique and has seen much violence over the centuries. Therefore I did not particularly care.....  more »

  • This is the definitive example of a fortified medieval city. For most people, this is what you envision when you think of castles. Well maintained and well displayed museum takes you through the history of the place. Great shopping, restaurants and strolling. You can easily spend an entire day here and not have seen everything. Great experience dispite the crowds.
  • Excellent place for tourists. Well worth coming to see the castle city and the city outside. It takes a while to get to know the streets inside the castle walls. Done nice shops. Quite a few restaurants. Most places have English and Spanish translations.
  • A great hotel in a great location. Being inside the old city walls was a wonderful experience. The hotel is everything you can hope for. Get there early to experience the old town after all the day trippers have left. Also, the hotel restaurant is a Michelin starred restaurant, so get reservations.
  • Amazing place. Very busy but not overly. Free to wander around but castle is a 9€ entrance fee. Worth it if you like exploring castles. Plenty of places to eat. We ate in the square where there is a good atmosphere
  • A must see if you're anywhere in the South of France. Make the effort to get there. I thought it was very beautiful in the early to late evening. That's not taking anything easy from a day visit. Also, the laser show from the closest bridge was fantastic. Fabulous world heritage building.
