  • This is a must visit whilst in the Old Town. Don't let the entrance charge put you off as it is well worth the money.

  • We did the night show. Audio guide was triggered as you entered each section. Light effects were well done without being overdone. The special effects at the end were impressive- the city model...

  • Truly an epitome of the medieval history ! It’s a huge chateau, with spectacular views of the city ! The good thing is if you are fond of history, this place offers a relaxed and detailed stroll through the castle! We visited in March on a rainy day, so it was rather isolated which made it that much easier for us😀 if visiting in summer, you can also get a view of the vineyards in distance and it’s incredible !!
  • Note to tourists: it's empty in March. Well worth going then and having the chateau to yourself. This is a fun nineteenth-century reconstruction with some original bits, like a high middle ages fresco. There are also some interesting, albeit anachronistic, artifacts, like Roman sarcophagi and columns from the first few centuries of the common era. The views from the ramparts are the highlight.
  • There is good reason, why it is so famous. ;) If you visit France, it should be on your list however there are thousands other very nice places.
  • We had a very interesting and pleasant visit lasting a few hours. It is however, hard work on old limbs. Numerous steps up and down which varied from wedge shaped spirals through worn stone steps with no hand rails to modern wooden steps which sometimes had iron hand rails. Large display of costumes, sarcophagi, statuary and bosses. Busy but no queueing. Well designed gift shop with some interesting pieces. Excellent views across rooftops in all directions.
  • Though it is one of the greatest castle, toilets not easy to reach. In the exhibition, there was "Budapest" on the map for the 14. Century a clear anachronism. There was only Buda and pretty small, not so significant even in Hungary.
