4.5/5 based on 1,300+ reviews on the web
The Romans first settled Lérins Islands, a group of four Mediterranean islands which now belong to the commune of Cannes. Tiny, forested Île Sainte-Marguerite housed the fortress where the Man in the Iron Mask was imprisoned for 11 years. His cell can be seen in the Museum of the Sea, which also houses archaeological discoveries from shipwrecks off the coast of the island. Guided tours in English are available. The other three islands are Île Saint-Honorat, Îlot Saint-Ferréol, and Îlot de la Tradelière, the last two of which are uninhabited. Île Saint-Honorat is now inhabited and run by monks, who pray and make wine in their leisure time. You can visit the 11th-century monastery ruins. Put Lérins Islands and other Cannes attractions into our Cannes trip itinerary builder, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • It is a great pleasure in mid season to visit this paradise where you are almost alone in the world under the pines in the discovery of the most beautiful coves than others with the sound of cicadas and the lapping of the waves. Away from the bustle of the streets and the Croisette without a car. The only restaurant is a bit pricey but good. Visit the Abbey and its cloister.

  • There are now fewer people in the many small coves that dot the Islands often more cooler than the coast

  • Always a pleasure to walk the paths of this serene island has a short distance from the bustle of the croisette. Lose you under the umbrella pines muffled by the songs of the cicadas invisible and walk down to small coves with clear water or enjoy a preserved flora and fauna. However beware of urchins, because even if the first to suffer from the encounter with your feet.. .What are you will have a somewhat painful memory.
