A castle turned into an art museum, Chateau Grimaldi Musee d'Art Moderne Mediterraneen is one of the finest pieces of architecture you can visit. Occupied first by the Greeks and then the Romans, the château was built by a French admiral. The view from the tower of the chateau is spectacular and moving inside the corridors you will feel that you have entered into that ancient time when this place used to be occupied. The view is great with the Alps standing right all around you and the valley just below the museum. Some great and interesting art works and antiques are displayed here. There is also an elaborate coverage of the treatment of olives during that time which is quite fascinating. • Interesting combination of Grimaldi history and the exhibition of modern and annimierten exhibits. Wonderful view from the Tower of Nice and the surrounding hills.

  • We found that the historical aspect of this imposing Castle-fortress is quite limited and deserves to be improved and better presented. During our visit, several rooms were different contemporary art rather poorly integrated into this old environment. In short, pretty disappointing from our point of view.

  • As the Musee was closed we walked about the Bourge Medieval - the old town. What an amazing experience. Mountains on one side covered in snow and a view to the Med on the other. Around every corner produced a photo op. A beautiful and authentic French village. Well worth a visit.
  • Small museum, must see, 360 degree view of the French Riviera. Contemporary art display, plus Suzy Solidor room with many oils of Suzy. Interesting history of olive oil production, and nice mansion museum. The surrounding town is also very interesting. Museum staff was very friendly and accommodating, allowing me to store my folding bike in the museum.
  • Important information: the museum is closed on Tuesdays. Needless to say, today is Tuesday...
