History Museum Museum
Located in the Château de Caen, covers the history of the region--from the early cave dwellers to the Vikings to the 20th century. You can examine 80,000 objects that trace the physical and cultural evolution of Normandy. Items include weapons, jewelry, and objects of daily life that are in context, as well as the masterpieces of blacksmiths, potters, and candle makers. The museum opened in 1963, and in 1970 it merged with the local museum of fine arts, increasing its collections. In addition to the archeological and anthropological exhibits, it also houses permanent and temporary art shows. • The Museum retraces life in Normandy from prehistory to nowadays. The permanent collection is worth the cost to be seen. Allow an hour to get around without anything missing. In addition it is free for the under 26 years old!
