Gouffre geant de Cabrespine, Cabrespine

3.7
#2 of 8 in Nature in Aude
Cavern features like draperies, waterfalls, and columns come to life at Gouffre geant de Cabrespine, one of the world's largest caves open to tourists. The crystallization in the cave is varied: calcite, aragonite, and a range of colored metal oxides exist here, some of which create the famous red rooms. Also admire the iron oxide-colored rooms of bright ocher with trays and disks hanging from the ceiling, as well as the underground river carved into blue marble. • An unexpected visit. Not to be missed! You take full eyes and ears. It's amazing to imagine making the cave. And Sebastian guide at the top. Thanks to spelunkers to live instead.

  • The cave is overwhelming, so well worth a visit. There is a large suspension bridge with at the end a glass piece where you can venture to in depth. Outside the cave is there are still some locations to visit and you can see different types of crystals. But this is what we have seen in other places more beautiful, so you should especially for the impressive size (the Eiffel Tower fits in the cave). The tours are only with French-speaking guide, but you can listen on translations via interactive devices. You'll get also some light shows on music, but this said me. Our children were slightly too small and therefore had a little too much fright.
