Ile d'Ouessant, Brittany

Categories: Islands, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.4/5 based on 90+ reviews on the web
Board a passenger ferry or plane and go to Ile d'Ouessant, the only place in Brittany (Bretagne) that has a different name in English: "Ushant." This island has a maritime past as a fishing community and as a key landmark of the Channel Islands. Interestingly, circumnavigations of the globe usually start and finish between Ushant and Lizard Point. Watch for the Créac'h lighthouse that is reputedly the most powerful in the world. Visit the island to find out why many authors have made literary references to the island's distinct cultural heritage. • Of course, there are bikes... but most interesting paths, especially on the coast are prohibited or inaccessible by bike. Is required of good walking shoes, the landscapes are splendid. A true feeling of being outside the continent...

  • the island of Ushant is preparing the boat, hotel, restaurant, see the guided walk, nothing can be left to chance and then last thing important ¨ ¨ heaven. The Gîtes of France Brittany offers a privilege card which entitles you to a discount on the price of the crossing. After all that, the scenery on the island is total, it's well the island at the end of the Earth ¨ ¨. Of course the ideal is to stay at least two days. The walks are countless on foot or by bike. If you can stay only a day I recommend a guide, if possible, with a small-sized vehicle, example ¨Ouessant escape, Mr Quentin ¨, an Islander who knows his subject, even if a day is a little race to see everything, you will have a good look at this beautiful island, in the hope to be back in you landscaping over time!
