Chateau de la Roche-Jagu, Brittany
Categories: Historic Sites, Nature & Parks, Tourist Spots
As the only survivor of ten fortresses along this valley in medieval times, Chateau de la Roche-Jagu is a Gothic fortress built in the 15th century and restored in 1968. The staggering number of chimneys (19) form a row along the crest of the building that looks like a defense structure, while the façade on the other side is more charming with many windows and an eccentric tower perched up high. The interior houses many of the county’s hidden maritime treasures on view for you. The site is beautifully maintained. We had the chance to participate in a visit organized by a guide whose verve was matched only by his passion for the era of the middle ages and the history of this castle especially. A very informative visit. Meals on the terrace in the gardens of the castle with a view on the latter. The proposed meals were also surprising that gustatively delicious at an unbeatable price.show original
