The "Last Judgment" on the west façade is a masterpiece of Gothic sculpture from the 1240s, while an emblematic mural depicting the Crucifixion dates back to 1475. The original mechanism from 1424 still tick-tocks in the astronomical clock, with the well-preserved clock face painted by Jean d'Orleans to symbolize the signs of the Zodiac. Malgré la magnificence du lieu, on y trouve une certaine spiritualité. La perspective sur les piliers est impressionnante. Beautiful Cathedral with some of the oldest stained glass windows in Europe. In lovely surroundings.
I was amazed by the handicraft that gone into creating the details of the cathedral. The stained windows was telling stories of the time gone by. If you are nearby don't miss visit the cathedral.
Beautiful, magical. Feels surreal. It's easy to go inside and go to the top where you can see the bourge city since there's less tourist.
Attended Easter morning mass here and it was very memorable. Absolutely stunning architecture, both inside and out. Definitely a sight worth seeing.
Beautiful!! It's stained glass windows are like a comic showing the life of the constructors and people at that time.

The Cathédrale St-Étienne in Bourges, near the Loire Valley, is a magnificent early Gothic cathedral on par with its more famous neighbors to the north. It is based on the Notre-Dame in Paris but with improvements in design, which can be seen especially in the astonishing height of the aisles. For its unique feats of architecture, impressive sculptures and glorious 13th-century stained glass windows, Bourges Cathedral has been designated a World Heritage Site.
