Le Prieure de Serrabona
Take in views of the oak forests and surrounding mountains at Le Prieure de Serrabona, a former monastery famed for its marble Romanesque rostrum from the 12th century. The origins of the priory go back to the 10th century, but most of the remaining architecture was constructed in the 12th century, including a transept and three apses, a cloister, and a bell tower. The walls of the nave provide a good example of the thick rubble stone construction. Enter the cloister to find a variety of sculptures in pink marble, all reflecting a high level of craftsmanship. Le Prieure de Serrabona is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , custom trip planner Edition.

Wonderful location, beautiful romanesque church, fantastic stone carvings.

Absolutely magnificent. Small monastery over 1000 years old overlooking a beautiful valley of pines. The gardens are meticulously kept and I loved meandering through the paths admiring the different fig and olive trees, as well as the medicinal plants. The church itself is small and simple but the carvings on the pink marble columns are unique. Definitely worth the drive and half day visit if you are in the area.

Full of curves long road to the top of the mountain and finally, beautiful, breathtaking view - unbelievable experience. Visit in old monastery , partially made from real Roman architecture elements is like trip in time. Fantastic place, silent and magical
-
Simple ancient priory with beautiful carvings in striking red marble by, I think, the unknown Master of Cabestany. Pretty, well-kept grounds of botanical gardens. Various short walks, with plentiful benches, around the hillside affording some pleasant panoramic views and cosy arbours. The cashier in the basic shop would not take cards (perhaps constrained by nominative determinism). The route is around 20 minutes from the main road. Steep hills and sharp bends with few passing places, rockfalls and supremely confident local drivers add to the excitement of the natural geography.
-
Small but nice. Ca 20 minutes to visit. Careful if you suffer trom motion sickness - road is quite winding.
