  • If I lived in Bordeaux I'd struggle to go anywhere else to buy fresh produce. The freshness of the food on display was terrific. I lost count of the cheese options, the range of seafood and the fruit ...  more »
  • "" For them "get up early", or the "very late" there is Bordeaux a happy, warm address or take a snack, breakfast, and go food shopping, this is part of the capus (as they say), with like beating heart from 6 h the capucins market (before traders settle their stands) between victory and the station close to St Michel, a place full of history (s), alive, humanly useful. I've known since childhood that market, its geography, its colors and smells, it is smoother, sanitized today, less than cockiness, but it's still my favorite place in the early morning to feel the pulse of the city. Open Tuesday to Sunday market.

  • Regional products! Local atmosphere! The capu market is to discover at any time... out of boxes or lunch you will find all the regional products! A typical local market

  • Good locals market. Not huge. To a tourist from Australia very exotic with different pastries. There was Gallette/Crepery bistro and although it originated in Brittany it was cooked on the spot and is a local highlight. All vendors were happy to interact and sell 1 or 2 pieces for our "foodie tour". We got some lovely background info even though our French and their English had a few gaps.
  • Great local market. Fresh produce, seafood, cheeses and meats. Many small vendors who very nice to a tourist like myself.
  • Great market with lots of food options. Amazing seafood and much cheaper than the restaurants of the city.
  • Nice place, fresh fruit. Free public toilets and good fish soup
  • Fantastic French market where you can find a ery good food and ingredients (vegetables, fruits, fish, meet, cheese...)

Where to stay in Bordeaux

Most hotels in Bordeaux sit conveniently located a stone's throw away from the train station. Look to Quinconces Square and Gambetta Square for high-end hotels. Those who prefer more budget-friendly accommodations may want to seek out a youth hostel--a relatively recent addition to the city. To secure a spot here, make sure to book ahead of time. In addition to hotels and hostels, choose from guest rooms in a typical Bordeaux house, or a family-friendly beachside campsite.
