To see and review this resting place huge last vestige of the field of the carthusians. He must love wandering the aisles to the research and the discovery of the famous and unknown names.

Night tour with a guide. Don't forget a flashlight! I'd rather do this day visit. I think that the presence of a guide is essential to get to the point. Again this time solo, and in the day.

Chartreuse cemetery is located in the heart of Bordeaux. It is the oldest and largest cemetery in the city. 25.7 square hectares, it was built at the end of the 18th century on the site of the old gardens of the monastery Chartreuse. Once this area was swamp, in 1610 it was drained at this place was built the monastery of Chartreuse. The cemetery is open daily from 8:30 to 17:0000 in winter and from 8:30 to 17:30 in summer. Admission is free, you can safely walk in the alleys and monuments and enjoy the quiet 19 century rigging, garlands, sculptures. The cemetery is beautiful, but not too many celebrities here. My grandmother is buried in the cemetery of the painter Gauguin and nearly a century here was buried the famous Spanish painter Goya.

Very beautiful cemetery. However I tried the famous statue of the mower where the fates come to break. To my great disappointment I have found... This is something that deserves to be better.

Where to stay in Bordeaux

Most hotels in Bordeaux sit conveniently located a stone's throw away from the train station. Look to Quinconces Square and Gambetta Square for high-end hotels. Those who prefer more budget-friendly accommodations may want to seek out a youth hostel--a relatively recent addition to the city. To secure a spot here, make sure to book ahead of time. In addition to hotels and hostels, choose from guest rooms in a typical Bordeaux house, or a family-friendly beachside campsite.
