  • Not far Tram A (stop St Bruno), the largest cemetery of Bordeaux and the oldest, just in front of the Church saint Bruno. Much of funerary monuments, tombs and magnificent pyramids. See for the site.

  • In the context of the Église Saint-Bruno was listed for the Carthusian brødrenes as Abbey Church first in the 1600 's, was made an extensive effort to drain the soil on the site where the Church was built, but also the area southwest of the Church were drained, so that later could be brought to a cemetery. Cimetière de la Chartreuse memories with its large, often imposing sepulchral monuments, though many other French cemeteries. In connection with that I visited the Église Saint-Bruno and the next landscape Monument aux Morts at Place du 11 Novembre, it was natural to go for a walk at the Cimetière de la Chartreuse. The entrance to the cemetery is directly across from the Église Saint-Bruno. The beautiful portal is the only thing that has been preserved from the Carthusian monastery. It is forbidden to photograph in the cemetery. This prohibition is written with very small letters on a very large sign, which I didn't thought of giving me to read, and therefore I took my camera there and took some pictures. A friendly staff member at the cemetery made me so aware of the ban. When visiting a cemetery looking always on the list of famous people who are buried in the place you are visiting. I knew none of those who is buried at Cimetière de la Chartreuse. But however, I couldn't help but read the family to two famous, French painters is buried here: Eugène Delacroix ' father and Paul Gauguin's grandmother. There is also a memorial to the Spanish painter Francisco de Goya, which is buried in Madrid. This Memorial I managed not to find, however. Cimetière de la Chartreuse, which has been a historical monument since 1921, is a beautiful and quiet place which is worth visiting if you reside in the western part of Bordeaux.

  • To see and review this resting place huge last vestige of the field of the carthusians. He must love wandering the aisles to the research and the discovery of the famous and unknown names.

  • Very beautiful cemetery. However I tried the famous statue of the mower where the fates come to break. To my great disappointment I have found... This is something that deserves to be better.
