  • There are many Spanish workers, mostly, have perished in the basic construction of this submarine for U boats ordered by the Germans. Still an oppressive, grandiose monument, creepy but that won't leave you absolutely indifferent. I would add that it became a museum open the only afternoon and that presented collections are always fabulous, different and widely highlighted by a play of light. On special request, the roof terrace can be visited... but it takes patience and go through the office of tourism or cultural associations. Not to be missed for the place, or for the tragic story, for exhibitions

  • Organization to visit expo daniel firman has reviewed more than fast: pb signs and especially schedule for discovery of the works. This greatly deserves a clear, readable at the counter display.

  • For my part, I find it interesting no more. Dirty place and formerly little creep. It's a ride to do during the day or for the curious

  • What I'd suggest on a sunny day is to go walking from the Cite du Vin. You pass by beautifil graffitis and boats and its a pleasant walk. Just bear in mind that the entrance is on the opposite side to the river. Also note that there are no Vcub stations nearby. This museum is one of the reasons why Bordeaux is the top destination for 2017 in Lonely Planet: instead of closing or demolishing the place (that would be very difficult and costly anyhow) the place is used for free exhibitions and for culture in general, turning an ugly behemoth with a horrible past into a beacon of light and hope. Apparently its possible to visit the rooftop from time to time, and it has loads of plants and wild vegetation.
  • Amazing building from the nazi legacy in Bordeaux. Now they offer expositions and concerts. Keep an eye for specific activities such as visiting often closed spaces inside.
  • You can feel the history inside
  • Must see
  • I m expecting a more historical tour of the place but nice expo. I think as we discover only a tiny part of the building

Where to stay in Bordeaux

Most hotels in Bordeaux sit conveniently located a stone's throw away from the train station. Look to Quinconces Square and Gambetta Square for high-end hotels. Those who prefer more budget-friendly accommodations may want to seek out a youth hostel--a relatively recent addition to the city. To secure a spot here, make sure to book ahead of time. In addition to hotels and hostels, choose from guest rooms in a typical Bordeaux house, or a family-friendly beachside campsite.
