When we think about the past of this building, one cannot but admire the conversion of it. Space that houses the show and conferences. If you have the possibility to return do not hesitate.

Unique of its kind, the base offers a huge entry and dark all by forcing compliance. The choice of the expo is always excellent and resonate with the permanent astonishment that the place is.

I was expecting a museum instead it was an art gallery. However the modern art was pleasant. Inside there are many places to take pictures for your social media accounts.

So unexpected. Huge, impressive structure. They've turned a dark history piece into something artistic.

What I'd suggest on a sunny day is to go walking from the Cite du Vin. You pass by beautifil graffitis and boats and its a pleasant walk. Just bear in mind that the entrance is on the opposite side to the river. Also note that there are no Vcub stations nearby. This museum is one of the reasons why Bordeaux is the top destination for 2017 in Lonely Planet: instead of closing or demolishing the place (that would be very difficult and costly anyhow) the place is used for free exhibitions and for culture in general, turning an ugly behemoth with a horrible past into a beacon of light and hope. Apparently its possible to visit the rooftop from time to time, and it has loads of plants and wild vegetation.

Amazing building from the nazi legacy in Bordeaux. Now they offer expositions and concerts. Keep an eye for specific activities such as visiting often closed spaces inside.

Where to stay in Bordeaux

Most hotels in Bordeaux sit conveniently located a stone's throw away from the train station. Look to Quinconces Square and Gambetta Square for high-end hotels. Those who prefer more budget-friendly accommodations may want to seek out a youth hostel--a relatively recent addition to the city. To secure a spot here, make sure to book ahead of time. In addition to hotels and hostels, choose from guest rooms in a typical Bordeaux house, or a family-friendly beachside campsite.
