Escalier du Roi d'Aragon (King Aragon Steps), Bonifacio

(4.6/5 based on 950+ reviews on the web)
According to legend, Escalier du Roi d'Aragon (King Aragon Steps) was carved from the steep cliff in a single night during Alfonso V's siege of the town in 1420. In fact, it was constructed earlier by an older Franciscan monk, who devised an easy access to the water source and the cave at the base of their monastery. The staircase leads to the sea, offering you a unique opportunity to swim at the foot of the cliffs. By boat, you can see the stairway all the way up the side of a cliff that looks like a hollow tube in the stone. You can walk the entire 187 steps, inclined at an angle of 45 degrees, overlooking the sea. • 187 steps cut into the cliff connecting Earth and sea. The staircase is very impressive, but the ride is worth the trip. The city of Bonifacio is peaceful, despite uneven steps, take your time to go down and up the latter.

  • Staircase along the cliffs of Bonifacio. More easily seen from the sea. That's impressive. Built in a very short time by the inhabitants of Bonifacio to be ravirailler secretly, during the blockade.

  • You are in the ascent to the Genoese, right door before on your left this stairs descending on the small Cove or you can admire the city and these cliffs below. If you can avoid the summer this is better, me I the chance to come over several seasons.
