A military complex of 93-acres constructed between 1685 and 1689 to protect Bordeaux from attacks, Citadelle de Blaye overlooks the Gironde estuary. The walled city, built around a former monastery, includes several army barracks, as well as the 12th-century Rudel Castle, 12th-century Liverneuf Gate, and 15th-century Eguillette Tower. Guided tours explain the architecture of the site, as well as the defense system and how it was used.   • pass the front door visit streets narrow and welcoming with ease, open to the public for Spades picnic or pitch his tent while respecting the environment and the beautiful stones, first Citadel which is not closed to the public at night and visitors respect not dirt and damage; Magic
