Public Garden, Bayeux

4.3
#14 of 30 in Parks in Calvados
Once a center for horticultural teaching, Public Garden today serves as one of the city's principal green spaces with array of historical flora. Visit the garden, founded in 1859, and explore its 2.6 hectares (6.4 acres) of lush greenery, including 400 varieties of trees planted by the founder himself and dating from as far back as the late 1850s. Be sure to visit the famous "weeping beech," a tree that's both one of the garden's centerpieces and protected as a nationally significant plant. You can join a guided tour to learn a bit more about the resident species. Entry to the garden grounds is free. • Stop and have lunch at the cafe in the park. One of the most beautiful settings I have ever had lunch at.  more »
  • Always also immaculately maintained garden, with a composition of plants at the entrance recalling a site or something else of BAYEUX. Now it is the new symbol of the city. Visit relaxing among the different species of trees, shrubs and flower beds, not to mention the famous "weeping beech", impressive monument. Lawns are not prohibited, you can walk on it, play ball and other sports entertainment. Walk really relaxing among the greenery, with the songs of birds. To recommend, Sunday, for good Digest after a heavy meal.

  • Gorgeous space, lovely for a picnic. Nice small playground as well.
  • Beautiful old trees!
  • It is beautiful, well maintained and has a huge beech which has a diameter of roughly 40 meters. We can go if l 'town of Bayeux, but it's not worth what' go specifically. Maybe it's very small too.

  • Not very big, but lets take a little walk in a place green in the city center. Note the presence of a 150 years old impressive tree.

  • Very nice for a relaxing break lunch. On the outskirts of Bayeux, but close enough to get there on foot. It is also possible to Park easily. There is also a playground for children and a picnic area. Personally, I prefer lunch on the grass.
