Chateau de Balleroy, Balleroy

(3.5/5 based on 65 reviews on the web)
Built in 1631, Chateau de Balleroy is a charming château that has undergone extensive restoration and refurbishment. Guided tours show you the richly furnished interiors. Entering the château, you encounter a dramatic innovation by Mansart--the suspended staircase. Held in place by a keystone at its uppermost level, the stairs and balustrades are supported by a series of vaulting with no supporting pillars.

One of the best and most memorable features waits in the outer courtyard, where you can explore the International Balloon Museum. A collection of pictures, miniatures, collectables, documents, scale models, and really unusual objects trace the history of ballooning from its origins with the Montgolfier brothers right up to the present day.

There's also a shop with a choice of gifts and memorabilia as well as a tea room. Chateau de Balleroy is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Balleroy Edition.

  • I live nearby, you can visit only the Park, or in addition to the castle with the balloon museum. Sometimes there are departures of balloons in the Park, it has been an annual event for a long time, and then it disappeared. There is a very good restaurant "the Manor of the Drôme" 500 m. the Castle Park is adjacent to the great forest of CERISY there sometimes does that show their silhouette.

  • A Louis XIII building almost unique in his State. Of the "French" Gardens all in a green setting. Surprising his village built around Castle. This castle houses a private collection (Forbes) on the theme of aerostation (gas or hot air balloons).

  • Quite an interesting Castle for lovers of French antiques. Recommend to all who will be in the vicinity of the Norman city of Caen, from afar, still not worth it, because France already flecked with luxurious locks. Get inside can be guided only at certain hours, so it's best to inquire in advance about the session excursions.

  • I have fond memories from a French exchange with Marie-France & her brother living with their parents who were the housekeepers of the Chateau.
  • Castle foreshadowing of 17TH century french classicism, built in 1631 by François Mansart, it is and remains as one of the most beautiful example of the genius of the time. Beautifully furnished, large and beautiful volumes, many paintings, beautiful draperies and precious objects. Gardens à la française with splendid boxwood parterres. Tearoom beside the Castle. Pancakes galore. . .

  • The weather was back and we enchainions then with the Chateau de Balleroy in a small 30 minutes offering besides being really nice, the Museum of the ball in his breast. A too historical hair for children who quickly round, he still interested Charly that since the cartoon where the top is very interested in the balloons.
